Rise Above

She breathes in deeply, And lets it all go; The heaviness Inside her wings,

As she’s taken away In the undertow. The current beneath her,

Of flowing winds; They beckon her To new heights Of strength,

Where she can master Her demons; Where she can learn the art

Of starting over; Where she can rise, And begin again.This body she inhabits;

It only contains one life. But in her mind And in her soul, She has died

And been reborn, Many times. She was not born fearless.She was not born brave.

It was her early circumstances, That caused her attributes To change.

She became a fighter, Very early on in life. She became a fierce protector, Inside a little girl’s mind. Though she was small and weak, Her ability to endure the pain,

Made her mighty. She possessed the strength and maturity Of a woman,

Inside a child’s body. She grew her own wings, And taught herself to fly.

And she learned something more about herself, Every single time that she tried. With each descent, She broke open further; Expelling the poison and pain, From inside her.

And with every ascent, She took to the sky; Spreading her wings A little further each time. She is slowly stepping Into her destiny; Into the sacred fullness, Of her authenticity. She has laid there in the darkness, Like a Phoenix with broken wings.

But even in the shadows, A bird will always sing. She will always remember what it felt like, To be forced to be a woman, When she was just a kid.But her warrior spirit and her bravery, Are the things she has chosen to take away from it. The world will continue to swirl all around her, And there will always be those,

Who could never understand her. She has a strength and a power inside her,

That is not really meant to be fully understood. And the only ones who are able to comprehend it, Are the only ones strong enough, who should. She will never be as soft as some, But she is still a sweet soul Who is made up of kindness, And unconditional love She will love you, In the fiercest way. She will protect you, In the shadow of her wings. And when you shrink down From the demons left inside you, She will guide you
