Dance of the DragonfLy
As I stood on the porch this morning, Listening to the birds and taking in the sounds and smells of a new day, I saw two pairs of Dragonflies . . . They were each flying around one another in an almost reckless dance. Suddenly, one pair came together and tumbled briefly downward before flying off together in passionate, Dragonfly bliss . . . But the colorless female from the other pair, just as suddenly, broke off her dance. She flew away . . . Leaving the bright blue male to land on a car antenna . . . alone. I looked at him, almost motionless, in the early morning breeze … his body, slowly teetering with his wings. I could almost feel his sadness . . . or maybe it was mine. But as I watched him fly off in search of another dance . . . I swear . . . I knew how he felt.
