Get out while you can

You think it might change. Remember the first time, the shock of it? Then came the "I'm sorry" over and over, it will never happen again. And it didn't, until the next time. The cycle goes on and on. You find yourself doing and saying things you'd never thought you would do or say. You are a speck of dust in his eye and he flicks it away anytime it annoys him or makes him itch. Domestic violence is not an accident. It does not go away because your intimate partner cries, begs forgiveness, and promises it won't happen again.
